Entering into 2013 with a dear friend

Today marks the first day of the new year.

For educators, it usually also means the end of the holidays and the back to school blues.

This year, we had the privilege of spending the day with a dear friend, Xinyi, who is also Daniel’s godma.

It was quite an impromptu meeting. We had to meet Xinyi to go change Daniel’s shoes that she had gotten him for Christmas. It fitted him too nicely and I did not want him to outgrow them so quickly. So we picked her up at her place and drove to Tampines Mall to change the shoes for a size larger.

After that, we had lunch at Tonkichi. The pork cutlet tasted especially yummy due to the great company. It was great to just spend the day together and share about our feelings about the new year.

After lunch, we headed to Starbucks where got our drinks and just had a leisurely chat. It was nice to just be able to sit down and not have to rush off anywhere. I just love public holidays. Really cherish quiet moments like that. This time tomorrow, it will be the first day of school with all the madness and chaos!

All too soon, it was time to go back as Daniel had to go home for this afternoon nap. We drove Xinyi back home. Realised how much I miss our rides home together! We used to give her a lift home after Vanguard almost every week when we were serving in the ministry together.

Shoes from Godma!
