Adventure Cove July 2014

Spent a lovely Saturday at Adventure Cove together with the Chous and the Lings, an outing that we had planned for earlier in the year.

It’s really nice to gather with other families. We don’t have many good friends with family and such outings don’t come by often.  The kids had fun together and the parents too. Daniel loves it and is really happy when he has friends to play with!

Although I was not able to try many of the water activities and slides, I had fun bobbing around the adventure river in my life jacket. The wave pool was pretty fun too. The only gripe was that being a Saturday, it was super super crowded. There were people everywhere and long queues for the slides.

The weather was really great. God is really good. It started to rain shortly after we arrived, but it lasted only for a while and for the rest of the day, we had really fine weather – it did not rain and it was not too hot either.

Fishing at Bedok Jetty

18 Apr 14

It was a fun morning, going fishing with the cell family. For all of us, it was the first time fishing at Bedok jetty and only one of us had some fishing experience.

I borrowed fishing rods from my father which I had no idea how to assemble. Thankfully, there was at least one of us in the group who knew something about fishing and assembling rods! Not being early risers, we reached the jetty around 10am and the sun was already blazing hot! We found a spot and started assembling the fishing rods, which took quite a bit of time since only one of us knew how to do it. To avoid baking in the sun, I found an excuse to help everyone go get some drinks, together with Shane.

By the time we came back, all the rods were set up but no catch yet. One of us remarked that our target will be to catch a fish and then we can all pack up and go home.  It was no fun waiting and baking under the blazing sun! Then suddenly, Ivan caught a fish, and quite a good sized one. Everyone got excited and more motivated and hopeful.

We decided to change to another spot and there was a Malay lady beside us who was catching A LOT of fish. She kindly shared some tips with Ivan who quickly shared them with us.  As a result, within about an hour, all of us caught at least one fish, even Daniel, with Shane’s help! The weather was also much cooler. Our total catch was about 17 fishes, which we gave to the kind Malay lady beside us. We left for quickly to grab lunch as the weather looked threatening. Thankfully, we made it to the East Coast food village before it started pouring!

What an enjoyable morning! Think we will be back to fish more often as Daniel enjoyed it so much that he wants to fish again 🙂

Kids Kampong Nov 13

Was a public holiday. Decided to bring Daniel to Kids Kampong on an outing with Aunty Pris who did not have to work today. Ivan could not join us as he unfortunately had an online course to attend …. on his birthday too.

Had read about Kids Kampong and was looking for an opportunity to bring Daniel.

It was certainly much fun! My parents went as well. My dad kindly paid for our entrances which included a packet of animal feed each and also got a bucket and net for Daniel to catch fish …. as if he could!

We took turns to do longkang fishing with Daniel as it was tiring to squat and catch fish. It was the first time for me! My dad is quite good at it. I managed to catch a few and so did Pris. We brought back a good number of fish.

The fishing is probably the highlight of Kids Kampong. Besides longkang fishing, there was also rod fishing but we did not attempt that.

There were some other animals there….. ducks, chickens, rabbits etc …We spent the rest of the time feeding them.

A fun place for kids and even adults like me who have never done longkang fishing.
